Round 1 of theĀ South West BMX Regional SeriesĀ kicks off the 2026 season atĀ Bideford BMX Club. Whether you’re lining up as an expert rider or hitting the regional circuit for the first time, here’s everything you need to know ā from the race schedule and entry fees to transponder requirements and how to register.
South West BMX Regional Series ā Event Details
This is a British Cycling-sanctioned event and entry is exclusively through theĀ BC entry systemĀ .Ā There is no on-the-day registration, so make sure you’re pre-registered before the Saturday night deadline. Transponder Requirement
This is aĀ transponder-run event. All riders must have a fully functional transponder fitted to their bike ā there are no transponders available to hire on the day. If you’re unsure how, see ourĀ transponder setup guide.

Registration & Entry Fees
- Pre-registration closes atĀ 18:00 on the SaturdayĀ before the event.
- Refunds only available if you notify the event team before 18:00 that Saturday.
- No transfers to other rounds are available.
- Expert 16 & Under: £15.50 (pre-reg)
- Expert 17 & Over: £17.50 (pre-reg)
Race Plates & Numbers
- Expert riders may use a green background regional plate, national, euro, or world plate as per the SWBMXA website.
- New riders must display the last 3 digits of their BC Membership number.
- Race plates and side plates must comply with British Cycling rules.
Qualifying for the South West BMX Regional Series Trophy
Expert riders must completeĀ 6 out of 9 roundsĀ of the South West BMX Regional Series to qualify for a Regional Expert Trophy and ranking. Every rider who reaches that 6-round milestone earns a trophy ā regardless of final position. See theĀ full 2026 series calendarĀ for all round dates and venues.
2026 South West BMX Championships
- Riders whose primary club is in the South West automatically qualify for the South West Championships.
- Out-of-region riders may participate but must race in the same age category they competed in within their own regional series.
- Out-of-region riders are not eligible for an SW1 plate or ranking.
- Any rider who has ‘ridden up’ during the season must continue in that category for the Championships.
2026 British BMX Championships ā Qualification Criteria
To qualify for the 2026 British Championships, expert category riders must completeĀ 5 regional events in their main classĀ (20″ or Cruiser) within the same BMX region, andĀ 3 events in their second classĀ (20″ or Cruiser).
