The Burm Race to 2028 is the unofficial LA28 BMX racing Olympic qualification tracker: the live UCI BMX Racing Olympic Qualification ranking for men and women, the riders each nation’s points would send to Los Angeles, and every event that scores points between 4 August 2026 and 29 May 2028. Updated monthly, with a close eye on Great Britain.

LA28 BMX Olympic qualification standings
Projection, not selection. UCI points earn Olympic places for nations, not riders. The names below are who the points would favour if qualifying ended today. Each nation’s federation and Olympic committee choose who actually goes to LA28.
Olympic spots show how many riders each nation would send to LA28 if qualifying ended on 3 Nov 2026, and how it earned them: Ranking (top 10), Continent (a stand-in until the 2027 continental championships) or Host (the host nation’s place, passed down when the USA qualifies anyway). The dashed line marks the last ranking place. Tap a nation to see its riders.

Source: UCI BMX Racing Olympic Qualification ranking, which already applies each rider’s best-results caps and counts Elite and Under 23 together. Projection: nations ranked 1st–2nd take 3 riders, 3rd–5th take 2, 6th–10th take 1, filled by each nation’s top riders on points. Continental places use the best-ranked African, American and Asian nation without a place as a stand-in until the 2027 continental championships. The UCI withholds one nation’s name in its ranking; that nation’s eligibility for LA28 is not stated.
How BMX racing Olympic qualification works for LA 2028
There are 48 BMX racing places at LA28: 24 men and 24 women. Places are won by nations, not riders, and a nation can send at most three riders per gender. The full rules are in the official LA28 BMX Racing qualification system (PDF) ↗. In each gender:

How the nation ranking is calculated
The UCI adds together the points of each nation’s three highest-ranked riders, Elite and Under 23 alike, from results between 4 August 2026 and 29 May 2028. Depth matters: one star rider can’t carry a nation into the top two. Each rider keeps:
World Championships: 2027 and 2028 results
World Cup: best 14 results (22 rounds are scheduled in the window)
Continental championships: one result, the edition closest to the end of the window
Hors Classe (HC): best 3 results
Class 1, Class 2 and Regional Games: best 8 results combined
National championships: one result, from 2027
Who can ride at LA28
A rider must be born on or before 31 December 2010, hold a UCI licence, have at least 10 points in the UCI BMX Racing individual ranking of 30 May 2028, and have raced a World Championships or World Cup in the window. Junior results score nothing towards the ranking.
Key dates
30 May 2028: UCI publishes the final Olympic qualification ranking
6 June 2028: UCI tells each nation its places
13 June 2028: nations confirm the places they will use
14–30 July 2028: LA28 Olympic Games, with BMX racing at the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area
Every UCI BMX racing event that can score points towards the LA28 Olympic qualification ranking, from the UCI international calendar. The next event is at the top.

LA28 BMX qualification FAQs
How many BMX racing riders will compete at LA28?
48: 24 men and 24 women. In each gender, 22 places are won through qualification, one goes to the host country (USA) and one is a Universality place awarded by the IOC.
How do riders qualify for BMX racing at the 2028 Olympics?
Riders don't qualify themselves. Their UCI points earn Olympic places for their nation. The UCI BMX Racing Olympic Qualification ranking adds up each nation's three best riders: nations ranked 1st–2nd get 3 places, 3rd–5th get 2 and 6th–10th get 1. Three more places go through the 2027 African, American and Asian continental championships, and one each through the 2027 and 2028 World Championships.
Who decides which riders go to LA28?
Each nation's federation and National Olympic Committee pick their own riders for the places their nation has earned. The projected teams on this page show who the UCI points currently favour, not who has been selected.
When does BMX Olympic qualification for LA28 end?
The qualification period runs from 4 August 2026 to 29 May 2028. The UCI publishes the final Olympic qualification ranking on 30 May 2028, and the 2028 UCI BMX Racing World Championships in Houston (21–27 May 2028) are the last event that counts.
Which events count towards LA28 BMX qualification?
Each rider keeps their 2027 and 2028 World Championships results, their best 14 World Cup results, one continental championships result, their best 3 Hors Classe (HC) results, their best 8 results from Class 1, Class 2 and Regional Games combined, and their 2027 national championships result.
Do Under 23 and Junior results count for LA28?
Elite and Under 23 points both count, with no distinction between them. Junior results score nothing towards the Olympic qualification ranking. A rider must be born on or before 31 December 2010 to compete at LA28.
How is Great Britain doing in BMX Olympic qualification?
In the UCI ranking of 3 Nov 2026, GB women are 3rd on 3,510 points (2 Olympic spots if qualifying ended now), and GB men are 17th on 569 points (no Olympic spot yet).
Where and when is BMX racing at the LA28 Olympics?
BMX racing and BMX freestyle take place at the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area in Los Angeles, during the LA28 Olympic Games from 14 to 30 July 2028.
