Whether you’re lining up as an expert rider or hitting the regional circuit for the first time\, here’s everything you need to know — from the race schedule and entry fees to transponder requirements and how to register. \nSouth West BMX Regional Series – Event Details\nThis is a British Cycling-sanctioned event and entry is exclusively through the BC entry system . There is no on-the-day registration\, so make sure you’re pre-registered before the Saturday night deadline. New to racing? Check out our beginner’s guide to BMX racing for everything you need before your first event. \nTransponder Requirement\nThis is a transponder-run event. All riders must have a fully functional transponder fitted to their bike — there are no transponders available to hire on the day. If you’re unsure how\, see our transponder setup guide. \nRace Day Schedule – Bideford BMX 2026\nAll times are approximate and may be adjusted if necessary. \n\n\n\nTime\nActivity\n\n\n\n\n09:00\nRider Sign-In Opens\n\n\n09:30 – 10:10\nTrack & Gate Practice (12 & Under)\n\n\n10:15 – 10:45\nTrack & Gate Practice (13+ / Cruisers)\n\n\n10:45 – 11:00\nElite Practice (only if track has a pro-straight)\n\n\n11:00\nRider Sign-In Closes – Pre-sheets posted via Sqorz\n\n\n11:15\nMoto sheets posted via Sqorz\n\n\n11:30\nRacing Starts\n\n\nFormat\n3 Qualifying Motos → Semi Finals → 30-min break → Finals\n\n\n\nRegistration & Entry Fees\n\nPre-registration closes at 18:00 on the Saturday before the event.\nRefunds only available if you notify the event team before 18:00 that Saturday.\nNo transfers to other rounds are available.\nExpert 16 & Under: £15.50 (pre-reg)\nExpert 17 & Over: £17.50 (pre-reg)\n\nRace Plates & Numbers\n\nExpert riders may use a green background regional plate\, national\, euro\, or world plate as per the SWBMXA website.\nNew riders must display the last 3 digits of their BC Membership number.\nRace plates and side plates must comply with British Cycling rules.\n\nQualifying for the South West BMX Regional Series Trophy\nExpert riders must complete 6 out of 9 rounds of the South West BMX Regional Series to qualify for a Regional Expert Trophy and ranking. Every rider who reaches that 6-round milestone earns a trophy — regardless of final position. See the full 2026 series calendar for all round dates and venues. \n2026 South West BMX Championships\n\nRiders whose primary club is in the South West automatically qualify for the South West Championships.\nOut-of-region riders may participate but must race in the same age category they competed in within their own regional series.\nOut-of-region riders are not eligible for an SW1 plate or ranking.\nAny rider who has ‘ridden up’ during the season must continue in that category for the Championships.\n\n2026 British BMX Championships – Qualification Criteria\nTo qualify for the 2026 British Championships\, expert category riders must complete 5 regional events in their main class (20″ or Cruiser) within the same BMX region\, and 3 events in their second class (20″ or Cruiser). \nHow to Enter the South West BMX Series Round 1\nPre-registration closes at 18:00 on the Saturday before race day — don’t miss your slot.
