BMX racing in the UK isn’t just a thrilling sport, it’s a journey. From your first club race to potentially standing on an Olympic podium, the UK offers a structured progression pathway that supports riders at every level. Step 1: UK Club Races: The Grassroots Foundation of BMX Racing

  • When? All Year
  • Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
  • Prizes: Club champion recognition, trophies

Club races are the heart of BMX racing in the UK. They’re community-driven, inclusive, and ideal for developing confidence and core riding skills. Clubs run local races throughout the year, often culminating in awards like club champions and seasonal trophies.

Once you’re comfortable at club-level events, you can take the next leap to regional BMX races. These are more competitive and follow a points-based system. The British Cycling National Series runs over 10 events through the summer in 5 venues and peaks with a 3 day event for the final rounds and crowning the British Champion as well as the National Series Champions. Later in the summer the best in the country in a one-day showdown “The Brits” where everyone competes for the coveted “01” plate for their race category, and is a fantastic weekend for family and friends to celebrate the season and the sport.
